Abaddon, the Destroyer, Sower of Discord, King of the Daemons of the Seventh Hierarchy, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, and completely bored with all of the aforementioned titles. Abaddon has grown quite jaded with his daily life as one of the greater Daemons of Hell. Tired of leading, torturing, and corrupting mortal beings Abaddon has abdicated all of his previously earned titles to experience life from a mortal's perspective. Donning the guise of Benjamin Colfax, Abaddon has taken up residence in Brookings.
As Benjamin, Abaddon displays a lackadaisical attitude, often bearing a mischievous smirk upon his bearded features. Keeping in line with his profession Benjamin is a remarkably approachable person that seems to radiate warmth and understanding. Always quick with a joke or some sarcastic remark he's a favorite at whatever bar he's working at. Benjamin has proven time and time again to be an exceptional sounding board for other's problems. Spending nearly every night allowing others to lay out their woes and misfortunes before him. Despite his apparent youth Benjamin has the maturity and poise to know when to offer up advice or simply pacify his clients. When he's hurting for a tip he's never above flirting with the clientele. Hell, sometimes he just enjoys flirting for the sake of flirting.
Outside of work Benjamin dials back the charm and receptiveness. Ben seems a quiet introspective sort. Rarely the first to start a conversation and always watching, observing. The few friends that he's maintained in Brookings know that to get the usually reserved Benjamin out of his shell he simply requires a bit of social lubricant, his preferred poison being a nice bottle of Jack. Once Benjamin gets rid of his pesky inhibitions he performs a quick one eighty. Going from quiet and reserved to incredibly social and boisterous. Ben seems to have an issue with moderation and has, on many occasions, reached the point of black out drunk, waking up in odd places with little in the way of clothing.
Oddly enough, while Benjamin is willing to listen to anyone's tales or problems he rarely talks about his past. This has cast the bartender in a rather mysterious light. Nobody knows much about the man beyond his name and that he supposedly attended school to be a psychiatrist before dropping out of med school. Many rumors have sprouted up about his nature with most assuming him to be some sort of Gifted trying to run from his past.
Benjamin, however, is only a single facet of Abaddon. His most human elements allowed to come out and play. Not a false front or mask, just an iota of his true being.
Abaddon is still very much the Daemon that he has always been. Inexplicably obsessed with the inner workings of mortals Abaddon strives to integrate himself fully into their world. His true nature has only been discovered once and the person met a very different man than the Benjamin Colfax he was used to.
Abaddon retains a small curl to his lip at all times, as if he's chuckling about his own private joke. Much of the warmth has vanished and the Daemon speaks in a blunt manner, cutting directly to the heart of the matter. When he's feeling rather playful his retorts tend to becoming scathingly sarcastic. From time to time the hellion will still offer up a joke, though often a rather morbid or ill timed one. Few beings call Abaddon himself friend and those that do are more often than not of a demonic nature. Though, the one human that did learn of his true nature found Abaddon to be more agreeable than most would expect a Daemon to be.
Abaddon is a proud being with much reason. He's traipsed through history and left his mark where ever he's gone. His name appears more often than almost any other Daemon in several religious texts and bears multiple translations. There's even myths he might have thrown the Devil himself into a pit for nearly a millennium and might actually be a Fallen Angel. He refuses to give comment on these rumors, but one thing is sure is that Abaddon is not a being to be looked upon lightly and he knows it. Rarely does he ever not get his way through persuasion or coercion. When the rare time comes that he cannot he simply takes with force.
Where as Ben is almost impossible to anger Abaddon's temper can easily be riled. A proud being Abaddon thinks himself to be above most races having watch almost all of them, as he says, "crawl out of the mud." He rarely resorts to violence though, instead choosing to torment those that bring down his wrath. Having the ability to read someone's every thoughts and rummage through their blackest memories makes it easy to use words to wound as opposed to fist. Abaddon isn't above duking it out however. He wasn't given a name that means "The Destroyer" without reason.
Abaddon despises Hell and all of its trappings. Having spent the last several centuries locked within its fiery belly he has no intention of returning to his birthplace anytime soon. Abaddon so vehemently hates Hell that he's actively hiding from other Daemons and supernatural entities. He obscures his demonic features as best he can and trying to pass for some sort of Gifted human. When topics of Hell do come up Abaddon's glaze goes glassy and he becomes rather despondent. Hell, even if you rule in it, is not a pleasant place.
Like man Daemons Abaddon enjoys making wagers and deals. He insistently maintains that he's a man of his word. As far as how much he twists his words or attempts to meddle in the outcome is a different subject altogether.

Born in the fiery bowels of Hell, Abaddon came into existence more than eight thousand years ago. A being forged as a weapon in the eternal struggle between Heaven and Hell he was granted the title of "The Destroyer". Much of the time that would be considered his adolescence has been lost to the sands of time. Abaddon himself remembers little of his own personal growth during this time. He does, however, retain a rather intricate knowledge of mankind's development. He often remarks that he's watched mankind crawl out of the mud and for the most part that remark holds true.
In ancient times Abaddon flitted between the budding human settlements. He watched from afar as nomadic tribes grew into villages, villages to cities, and cities to countries. The humans' baser desires intrigued him, thought not in the same manner as other Daemons. While most sought only to turn humans to a darker path Abaddon desired to understand what sparked these emotions in humans. How a race could show selfless charity in one entity and crushing avarice in another was beyond his understanding. While his underlying reason may have differed Abaddon was not above coaxing humans to ruin. In fact, he reveled in it. Watching as an honest man turned to murder, adultery, or thievery.
His desire to experiment and understand humanities' flaws drove him to perform such travesties on larger scales then his brethren. Whereas some demons contented themselves with a single mark, a single soul to corrupt, Abaddon sought to corrupt on a higher level, tempting entire towns and placing his dark mark upon villages. His siblings would leave their handiwork once the seed had been planted but Abaddon would watch as the discord unfolded, never content until he was sure he had seen the worst that the humans had to offer. It was this single minded dedication that elevated him above the others.
Titles in Hell do not hold the same merit that they might in human social circles. They offer more of a symbolic meaning and carry a more militaristic standard. Abaddon, at the tender demonic age of of 1,200, was elevated to the status of King. While the title might sound incredibly impressive to mortals it is not. As a "King" Abaddon was granted his own legion of demons to command as he saw fit, which ended up being little more than glorified babysitting. For millennia he ruled over his legion, engaging the forces of Heaven whenever he could. His new found responsibilities and duties made it difficult for him to engage in his research into human nature.
It was not until Greece rose to power that Abaddon once more entered the human realm. Ancient Greece was a time of great philosophers, humans who sought to rationalize human behavior and to understand the world. Abaddon's inquisitive nature allowed him to fit in well with these archaic thinkers. Many times, under the guise of a Greek citizen, he attended symposiums lead by the foremost thinkers. Thales, Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato. All of them captured Abaddon's interest over this extensive period of time. The juxtapositions they made of morality inspired Abaddon. While he'd always argued he was interested in humanity's dual nature he had only ever corrupted, never attempted to sway a human to follow a more honest path.
It was during this age that Abaddon, for a time, set aside his mantle as the sower of discord. His legion, now known as the Furies, continued his work. Tempting humans to pursue a more noble path proved to be harder than Abaddon had first thought. It was not so simple as to play upon their desires or fears. He soon learned that one had to appeal to their feelings of sympathy, nostalgia, and familial ties. In his human guise he struggled to do so, however, in his demonic form it proved somewhat easier. How much of their obedience was righteousness and how much was fear is a matter that is up for debate.
Approaching the Romans' time Abaddon began to acquire a new title; The Angel of the Bottomless Pit. This era had shown that humans were growing to become more aware of daemons and some had actually begun to go out of their way to summon them. Abaddon's presence upon earth grew more prevalent. Frequently summoned by would be sorcerers Abaddon became well known for his strange nature. Half of the time he would turn upon his summoner, the rest he would bequeath to them whatever they desired with out recompense. No one knew if they would meet with the Destroyer or the Angel when they called Abaddon's name.
The sands of time passed quickly for Abaddon. It wasn't until the end of magic came about that his life began to change. As one of the oldest of Daemons and one of Hells many "Kings" Abaddon held council with the rest of his brethren to make the decision to seal magic away. Abaddon was originally opposed to the idea, meaning that his race would have to seal themselves within Hell. The debate raged on and in the end Abaddon gave his consent. Electing a leader among them the council of the races was called and magic was sealed away. Abaddon along with the rest of his race quietly retreated into the recesses of Hell.
Abaddon's life became irrevocable boring.
Trapped in the underworld with only his brethren to keep company. Abaddon longed to return to the mortal world, without magic to sustain him he would either perish or become a mortal himself. Unwilling to make that sacrifice Abaddon resigned himself to centuries of unending boredom. For longer than he cares to remember he lived in the inferno that was his home. All the while he dreamed of the above world. The phrase familiarity breeds contempt holds true even for Daemons and Abaddon holds all of Hell as such. He grew to despise all that his home was and he wanted nothing more than to leave and never return.
Centuries passed before his opportunity arose. In the early 19th century a strange being appeared and the magic that was sealed away suddenly flooded back into the world. Like a tidal wave the supernatural returned to the world in force. Abaddon was one of the first Daemons to leave Hell and step foot upon the mortal world once more.
Abaddon was astounded by the human world he saw before him. The advancements they had made, the civilization that they had cultivated, and the odd machines that littered the land. The new world enchanted him more so than the previous one. Abaddon threw himself into it with reckless abandon. For decades he soaked up all that the world had to offer. The return of Daemons also meant that their long time enemy had surfaced as well. He traveled under the guise of a Walther Colfax between the centers of culture and learning in the new world.
Abaddon's adventures would end though as a new battle began. With the return of magic an argument began as to whether the magic should be sealed once more or allowed to run rampant. Abaddon refused to have his opinion denied this time. Magic would remain with the world or he would have no part of it.Fortunately, sealing the magic seemed almost impossible and two centuries later still thrives in the world.
In the 21st century Abaddon has left behind Hell altogether and hidden himself among the humans. Like most supernatural entities he's found that Brookings, Nevada has an odd aura about it. Abaddon has taken up the name Benjamin Colfax and become a resident of this strange town. Working as a bartender for the last year Benjamin watches the different creatures from afar as they interact, but lately has begun to feel the urge to integrate himself into their lives.

`` ABILITY/POWER
Abaddon is an ancient Daemon of impressive power. Like most of his ilk he's been gifted with an inhumanly strong body. His millennia of existence has further strengthened his body and physical attributes. If Abaddon is injured his body regenerates at a rate much faster than the average mortal. If Abaddon is ever "killed' he is teleport ed back to Hell in his demonic form and must bide his time until his physical body regenerates before entering the mortal plane.
Abaddon's ability to heal extends not only to himself but others, if he wills it. Typically, Abaddon will initiate a Faustian bargain with a mortal in order to heal or revive the subject in question. Most times Abaddon will settle upon eternal servitude or their immortal soul. To help perpetuate discord and strife all daemons have the ability to possess the body of other beings. Angels have proven to be the only beings Abaddon cannot possess as they will instantly exorcise him from their body. When he must Abaddon has shown he's capable of possessing the bodies of animals as well, though he often comments about feeling "cramped" afterwards. Abaddon's age allows him to mentally infiltrate the thoughts of others.
Abaddon is capable of shifting between his human form and demonic form at will. Abaddon's demonic form appears as a ethereal eight foot tall monstrosity. A ghastly figure composed of bloody colors and black Abaddon seems to simultaneously be a solid and immaterial figure. He bears no recognizable features save for glowing red eyes and two sets of black horns sprouting from what one can only assume is his forehead.
