Austin is one of those guys you either like or don't, typically there is no in between. He is quirky, friendly and has some seriously weird thoughts and opinions on things. He can be a bit eccentric and that is why some people don't like him. But to be honest he doesn't give a crap what any one thinks of him as he is a very confident person. Blunt, sarcastic and always says what is on his mind. He doesn't try and rub people the wrong way but it tends to happen quite a bit. Especially after he has been drinking.

His biggest fans though are young people he teaches in his classes, they seem to like him in all his weird behavior. He believes in having fun and makes it his goal to keep learning entertaining. Perhaps that is why he chose to teach Mythology, it was a exciting and interesting subject.

Austin is the middle child born to Druella and Cygnus Flint, he has a older brother named Tyler and and younger sister named Mikayla. The Flint family is very well off, their money illegally obtained through drug importation and sales. Growing up the kids were kept sheltered from that business though and never understood where their families money came from. It wasn't until they were in their late teens that they found out.

In school Austin did quite well in most of his classes and of course succeeded in his foreign language classes, granted that might have something to do with the fact that his gift is the ability to understand and speak all languages. He was very much a bookworm and would have preferred to hang out in the library instead of out playing sports. That being said he was never considered a "loser" in high school and was more of a social group hopper.

After high school he attended college with the hope of eventually becoming a teacher instead he ended up dabbling in the families business for a while. Eventually he decided this life was not for him and he wanted to put his degree to some use and accepted a job as the Mythology teacher at the Academy. This didn't sit well with his family at all and he has not talked to them much since then. So instead of living large he has been living quite a modest life.

When he was 29 years old he met the love of his life Ashley, after 2 years together they were married and surprised with a pregnancy. However, during child birth both mom and baby would lose their lives. This sent Austin in a downward spiral that he couldn't stop. Drinking endless amounts of alcohol, and becoming a disgrace to just about any one. The drinking eventually got better and better but he never completely stopped, if something particularly bad happened he would hit the bottle again and he was not a nice drunk. He has somehow always managed to be sober and professional at work though as he feels its all he has left in the world that he still loves.
