Dahlia packed up the diaper bag and got her daughter Rayna dressed, then sticking her in her car seat. She was on her way to dropping Rayna off at her fathers house for the week. It was rough being 23 and working two jobs to support her child, while she was no longer with Benjamin the two remained friends and worked together to raise their daughter. Having split custody was hard for Dahlia but she knew it was the best thing for every one. It opened up her nights so she could work her second job at the local bar in town. None of her jobs were all that glamorous but in a town like Brooking you were a bit limited on what you could do. As she arrived at Benjamin's house she kissed her daughter goodbye, even though the toddler was fast asleep.
She dreaded the drive to the bar, it wasn't particularly her favorite job and sometimes it was just downright degrading. It was one of those bars that the old guys liked to come in flirt with the cute young waitresses or guys just wanting to find their next one night stand. It's a job, it pays she would have to remind herself constantly. Until she could find something better it would have to do. Pulling her car into the parking lot she went inside and clocked in. It was a small bar and so every one kind of chipped in where they were needed, she cleaned tables, served food and even mixed drinks on busy nights. Luckily tonight being a Tuesday night it wasn't to busy and maybe she would have a moment to sit back and relax. Rules were not really followed here and management was pretty relaxed. Just don't serve those who were under aged and you were fine, otherwise management didn't care what you did after customers were helped.
Dropping a quarter in the jukebox she selected "I don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith, even to the distaste of a older gentleman in the front who would have rather listened to some rock song, every one else seemed to enjoy the the song selection though. Swaying back and forth in rhythm with the music she cleared of the tables of left behind food and wiped them down. For now at least she was in a good mood. After a while she sat down at the bar which was now empty and sipped on a glass of coke. Oh how she wish that coke had alcohol in it, atlas she knew she couldn't drink on the job.

He walked everywhere and there were times where he knew he could get there faster by car but walking gave him time to think. He, well he liked to do research so to say and unknown to the young lady he had been coming into this bar because he felt that he should say something to her. Hi was always a good place to start but what could he say after that was the real problem so you see Cadence had came in every once in a while and said nothing. He walked in tonight and noticed no one else was there except for her. Taking in a deep breath he mentally prepared himself and took a seat at the bar. After a few seconds he slightly thummed his fingers along the bar but not in an annoying way, more along the lines of a person with patience way. That was when he heard the song. He turned so that his back was now up against the bar and listening. That was when he turned his head and noticed that unknown to him he had sat down next to her. Holy hell he thought. "Shit," he said aloud. He needed to pay more attention. He sighed and decided to attempt and say something intelligent. Come on, you can do this. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything," he said as he looked around. "I hope you guys were not closed, I didn't even think that it could be a possibility. The song is nice though, but I will leave if needed." DAHLIA LOUISE ABBOTT

Most people would have been enjoying the quietness that was in the bar tonight but she just found it dreadfully boring. Knowing that she would not be able to stand the next few hours like this if no one else came in. Just a few people would be nice, some one to talk to or even listen to drunk stories. Those were usually pretty entertaining, you never knew what you were going to hear.
She perked up as a young man she assumed to be around her age entered the bar and sat next to, at first it seemed as if he didn't even know she was there. She had seen him in the bar a few times and he had struck her interest. He was good looking but had seemed shy, not ever really saying much to her. Plus she wondered why any one their age would ever come to this bar filled with old fuddy duddies.
Excuse me? she asked hearing him mumble something but not quite catching what he had said.
Interrupting something? Well as you can tell its a very busy night she said with a small chuckle and a friendly smile. No worries were not closed, just a slow night though its usually pretty slow around here she said more seriously.
Can I get you a drink... or something to eat? I don't recommend the Hamburgers, the chef puts his secret sauce on them and between you and me I'm not sure we want to know what the secret is she said half joking and half not, they did have a funky taste to them.
Oh ya i like it to, perfect to dance to she said, as a child she had taken dance lesson and quite and enjoyed the slower songs she could dance to. She found it romantic and well she was a romantic at heart.
I'm Dahlia she said introducing herself, figuring the guy had come in here enough that it was strange she didn't know him as she knew most of the people that came in by name.

He listened and after a few minutes he slowly closed his eyes. It was a nice song. Words put together, melodies seemingly just right, then he realized that somehow or another he was off in his own world. He quickly snapped out of it. "No thanks, I'm good on everything right now." Truthfully he did not hang out in bars much except this one and even then he did not really drink. He came because on nights like this it did not seem like such a bad place to be. Also he thought, wait she was still talking, Dahlia was rather cute. He had not made a move or anything however. "Cadence," he said. "I try to stay away from meat anyway so I doubt I'll be trying a hamburger any time soon. If it's a good song to dance to then why aren't you dancing?" He slightly sighed and extended his hand. "Come on, if a lady wants to dance, she should be dancing." tag: DAHLIA LOUISE ABBOTT

It's nice to finally meet you, usually I know every one who comes in here. Are you new to town or have you just been avoiding me this whole time? she asked jokingly. Dahlia hadn't ever seen the boy until he started to recently come into the bar but he had caught her eye.
Dahlia was no stranger to charming and flirting guys. She wasn't easy or anything like that, she just had a very open and bubbly personality that made flirting and even making the first move very easy and comfortable for her. Some guys found this intimidating but she never let it get to her.
Well then if you don't eat meat then you have lucked out, though the food may be sub par the drinks are great she commented. It was cheap food, but as long as you mixed the drinks correct you couldn't really go wrong.
No one to dance with I guess
A gleeful smile crossed her face as she extended her hand into his. He had no idea how something so simple could make her so happy. Not many guys were willing to dance, you know it was too girly....or they were too embarrassed. Cadence sure was leaving quite the impression, even if they had only been chatting for a few moments.
Well you sure know the way to a girls heart she teased as she stood up and made her way to a open spot on the floor. Dahlia was a hopeless romantic, she loved things like dancing with guys, kissing in the rain, flowers and chocolate.... okay so maybe she had watched one to many romance movies.
So if you came in here alone, don't want any food or a drink then what brought you into the bar? she finally asked quite interested in his answer.

Dancing had been easy, well learning to dance so to say. Other things not so sure. Knowing his way into hearts, that he doubted too but then again he supposed he had never tried, not really anyway. Strife: I don't avoid people, I simply stay to myself. Everything though, I imagine that it happens for a reason. He had always been taught to stand up straight and be a gentlemen and let everything play out as it may. Then she asked why he came in. Strife: I thought I would finally gather up the courage to come in here and ask a girl out, instead of being the guy who comes in and looks from afar. Believe it or not I decided that I did not want to be the guy who comes in here and hit on the girl without it perhaps actually going anywhere. He paused for a minute. Strife: Then I thought there was no way a girl like that, you specifically would say yes so here we are dancing. I'm not new here, I have been here a while, I just do not get out too much. Trying to get better at my art so I can do something that I love. DAHLIA LOUISE ABBOTT
