Having a name like Wolfe, one might think that Rian has the cocky attitude and a male dominance that wolves in the wild tend to give off. However, he's quite the opposite. He isn't dominate by any means, though he holds a high ranking position he got it by being the best and the smartest. Not the strongest or brutish. He takes his job very seriously, he does everything by the book and isn't one for putting up with nonsense when it comes to getting a case solved.

In his younger days he had a bit of a gambling problem. He has a highly addictive personality which makes it hard for him to drink, smoke, or pretty much do anything dangerous because it generally leads him to repeating his actions until he's dying or broke beyond belief. It's what keeps him from going out much after work. He prefers to be home alone so that he doesn't get himself into something that might eventually get him killed. However since his younger days he has matured quite a bit and has taken on more responsibilities and a leadership role in his life.

Rian tends to have a dry wit and sense of humor, which leaves him being sassy and sarcastic at times when doesn't necessarily mean to be. He's especially sarcastic with potential criminals and suspects that he gets into the police station. He is more caring towards his colleagues and the family of victims that he talks to during cases and even afterwards. He also has an undying dedication towards finding the truth, willing to do just about anything to get to the bottom of what happened to the victims lying dead in the morgue. Couple that with his high sense of loyalty to his team and you have what Wolfe really is. A golden retriever.

Despite his usually calm nature, Rian has a temper that he loses control of in stressful situations. He has a short temper that gets the better of him when he isn't thinking clearly. He also doesn't like being made a fool of or being manipulated. It's one of his pet peeves that really sends him over the edge. And although he's a by the book cop his passionate nature will turn him into a darker person if it means getting to the truth.

There is one, itty-bitty, teeny-weeny, tiny thing about Rian that sets him apart from normal people. He's very, very, very OCD. The kind of OCD that would generally require him to be hospitalized. It's the kind that requires him to clean things several times before he's convinced it's clean. He can't get dirty because he'll spend an entire day scrubbing himself clean with bleach and soap. He also likes to keep things organized in their proper place and generally in alphabetical order. Everywhere.

Rian was born into a decent family, he was an only child his whole life so, of course, he was spoiled beyond belief. His parents were very concerned with his schooling, however, wanting him to get the best education available. So, being the good Jewish parents that they were, they sent him to a private Jewish pre-school, elementary, junior and high school. Willing to pay out of their teeth to give him a chance in the declining job market.

Rian wasn't as thrilled about his Jewish heritage as his family was, and although he went to school, and kept the faith all the way up to his high school graduation, once he was done accepting his diploma he told his parents just how he felt and applied to Harvard. Ri had more of a study life than a social life. Which he didn't mind having. He enjoyed studying, learning, memorizing, and when he received his PhD. in Forensics Science and Chemistry he applied to the major crime division in his home state but was offered a better job in Florida.

He took it, working for the crime division in Miami and processing crime scenes. He enjoyed the work far more than he should have, finding it gratifying when he solved cases and put people away who belonged in jail. While he worked, he attended the local University, studying for a bachelors in Genetics to hopefully progress higher in the department.

After a few years he was offered a job as a police captain in a small town in Nevada. He was a bit confused by the job offer, wondering why they would need someone of his caliber to work in such a tiny part of the world. SO he declined, figuring he would accomplish more in Miami than in some hill billy town he'd never heard of.

That is, until he was visited by his Uncle. Rian's family wasn't very big, in fact in his childhood the only person outside of his parents that he saw was his mother's brother, Ron. And when Uncle Ron showed up in Miami one winter morning, Rian could tell that there was something wrong.

Turns out that something had happened to his parents. Something, supernatural. They had been murdered but someone had been provoked to confess to their murder. Ron knew that something strange was up and he had followed the actual killers all the way to Brookings, Nevada. Rian found himself even more confused than he was before, but he followed his Uncle to Brookings to take on the position of Chief of Police
