Stay in Brookings, location of interest.
Katalin sighed. Spider's message was short, crpytic, and not even worded in a typical underhanded way. But then it wasn't really a message likely to draw attention. So she was stuck here for as long as Vox needed her here. She only hoped that the assignment would wrap up before Christmas. Given the opportunity she liked to take all of December and January to visit her family, reconnect, and spend some time in familiar country. Besides, she spent too much time in places where it didn't snow. Even though she heard people talking about the unreasonably cold autumn it seemed war to her. Like summer hadn't quite loosened it's grip yet.
A long, burgundy skirt swept around her booted ankles as she strolled along the sidewalk in front of a row of quaint little shops, her eyes more on the displays than on the people around her. She kept tabs of her surroundings but for today at least she was trying to find just the right thing to take back with her when she made it home. Vedo walked at her side, a leather leash snapped to his collar though she only loosely held it. He never wavered from her side and wouldn't have regardless of restraint. And if he had truly decided to run, Katalin couldn't have held him back though she was stronger than she looked.
A toy display caught her eye and she paused, pressing close to the window but not quite touching the glass. The massive white dog stood just beside her, but watched the people around them pass. He didn't care for the small, brightly colored things in the window. His mistress on the other hand was enchanted by the small stuffed animals in the window, sitting on little pillows and arranged as though playing. Her face softened, a slight smile touching her lips as she considered. Noemi and Eszti were learning English and they liked to call her Kitty Kat, since her name sounded like 'cat'.
There were several cat plushes in the window, in a number of colors and patterns. Not quite committed to going inside, she instead inspected them through the window. Dealing with twins was tricky. She needed to get the plushes that were similar enough that neither felt like they got a lesser thing, but different enough that they felt special. Absorbed in her considerations, she was slightly startled to feel the low rumble of a warning growl in Vedo's chest as he leaned against her leg. She didn't jump, just looked in the reflection in the window to see who had approached too closely behind her for the dog's comfort. While nowhere near 100%, she was healed enough that she wasn't too worried about handling a problem. Especially not on a busy street in broad daylight.
