Vincent can be a little difficult to figure out. The most identifiable trait that they have is their relaxed demeanor. Never allowing others to see when they are distressed or angry, and even being able to hide simple things like exhaustion. People might assume that they are mysterious, or reserved simply because they don't often speak up in large groups. When they do offer insight it usually tends to be cryptic as Vincent sometimes fails to realize that some people don't pick up on entire patterns like they do. Communication with others isn't exactly a challenge for them, as much as it is a challenge for others to follow the way they articulate their thoughts.
This slight difficulty with communicating can be partially attributed to a higher than average intelligence. While Vincent doesn't have the brain of a supercomputer, and they don't exactly have enhanced intelligence, they do have a very intricate understanding of how everything around them works. This gives them a slight upper hand when it comes to their mental capabilities. Being able to figure out complex systems does not necessarily mean that they have the ability to properly relay that information. A common case of a young person that is too smart for their own good and is unwilling to make the changes needed to be more social.
None of this means that they hate interacting with other people. Spending time with others, especially when they are first getting to know them is something that Vincent really enjoys. They love to identify all of the subtle complexities of personality traits and watch how that person develops into the future. They just prefer to be able to have extended periods of time where they can be alone with their thoughts. When it comes to people close to them, they really count just about anyone that feels the need to associate with them. It's not hard to get their help if you ask, and they will often be open to hanging out with anyone that doesn't irritate them. They just ask that people respect when they wish to have space for however long they need.
Vincent will sometimes ask for people to alternate the use of their name. Usually corresponding with their choice of clothing for that day, but not necessarily the case. While they generally much prefer to be called Vincent, they sometimes feel like they should be called Quin. They don't exactly have an issue with people who don't follow this either. It simply makes them feel more comfortable in conversations.
Vincent does not make decisions on impulse. Whenever they choose to be a part of something they always make sure they feel like they have given it the proper amount of thought. That's the case in most situations. If they need to tell someone something that might be very important? They choose their words more carefully than usual. If someone asks them for help they will only offer the best solution they can come up with. They tend to be very safe when it comes to planning.

Some people might think that an individual would enjoy not having their parents around constantly to bother them while growing up. Both of Vincent's parents were management consultants, traveled a lot, and had very little time to spend with them. From the time they were old enough to realize, and most likely before they spent most of their time with their uncle.Their parents didn't trust leaving them to a nanny and their uncle was not necessarily in the most stable position financially. So in the end it worked out as a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Growing up they always had an interest in books, and by the time they reached their third year of elementary school they read at a "high school," level which they never thought was much of an achievement. Despite that their parents felt the need to brag about it, and connected it to their uncle always reading to them. There was something that both of them knew, however, that was much more astonishing than their "reading level." Over time their uncle strayed away from actually reading to them and would simply sit them in the office with him while he worked on cases over the night. The man worked as a crime scene investigator, and spent private time reviewing certain information in order to better grasp a situation. Once Vincent fell asleep, he would simply take them up to their bedroom. This led to the first indication that the child had something blossoming inside of them.
Their uncle broke the ritual one night, when Vincent appeared to be sleeping. Instead of immediately taking them up to their bedroom, he went to use the restroom and left the files of one of his cases open on the desk. The sound of the door closing woke Vincent up, and though they had been told before to stay away from their uncle's desk they went and looked at the files anyway. The images within the file would most likely have traumatized other people their age, but instead of being taken aback by the scene they instead immediately felt like they understood what had happened. Sheer curiosity as opposed to fear and anxiety. Without an excessive amount of detail, it took them a small amount of time to read through the information in text, and scan over the pictures of evidence to more or less comprehend what had happened. Along with disproving what they had assumed to be their uncle's conclusion on the nature of the case. Before they would have gotten caught, they slipped back to their spot on the floor with their books and pretended to sleep.
The next few days after this occurrence they had switched from reading fantasy novels to finding different crime or investigation novels that had been lying around the house. They also felt overwhelmed by the guilt of having disobeyed their uncle, and came clean to him about their actions. As well as indicating where exactly there were things that their uncle hadn't noticed. Vincent had been expecting a punishment, however their uncle had instead praised their gift.
As time went on the young man became more interested in crime stories, and made a habit out of watching the news, as well as crime documentaries. They felt like they had absorbed the concepts naturally as if it by some force beyond their own mental power. Along with the fact that their uncle became more open about what they was working on, and gave them tips about proper investigation.
They would continue this set up for years as Vincent grew up. They became slightly obsessed with the idea of being a detective like Sherlock Holmes, or a variety of other characters from old noir films or crime television series. Though despite knowing precisely wanted they wanted to be when they grew up, they struggled with understanding who they are. It was hard to socialize with people their age, and even though they could pick up most things with fair ease it had been tough to find an extracurricular that kept their attention. Not to mention the fact that they were struggling to feel comfortable in their own skin. It took them a while to just decide that they preferred not falling under a concrete label.
Things were more difficult after their parents actually found out all ended when their parents figured out what exactly had been going on. They were proud of their child, but absolutely appalled by Jonathon’s(their uncle’s) lack of better judgement. Vincent wouldn’t be allowed to see him for a while, and after going through various counselors it was decided that they were extraordinarily gifted and it wasn’t long before he was shipped out to America for Masquerade Academy.
