THERE were books strewn across the table. Pens and markers here and there, along with several notebooks that already had notes and doodles. Even though classes had barely started, Selby was already getting back into school mode. She had highlighted her class schedule, as well as wrote out and highlighted a study schedule, complete with breaks for food, exercise and checking up on her Guild mates. Sel had also written ones out for Caje and Leo, but she wasn't sure if they'd even look at them, so she was going to hold on to them and just pester them throughout the day.
The table was rather large, usually fitting five to six students and Selby had taken up the entire thing with her stuff. The librarian had already come by her a few times, a look of utter disapproval on her face. Which made sense, Selby had made a mess of everything, and more than likely the librarian figured she'd have to clean it up.
It's like a zoo in here.
Selby heard her mutter under her breath a couple of times as she walked by. Sel felt as though she was trying to get her to leave, but there was so much more work to be done. She smiled to herself as she dragged her laptop over from halfway across the table and started typing up her schedule. In case it got lost, or stolen, or she spilled something on. I should probably print several copies, just in case... She debated with herself, tapping her foot on the ground to a beat that was solely in her head.
An hour later and she was still there, though some of her mess had been cleaned up. She put several of the books back on the shelf where they belonged and the librarian seemed to take this as sign of goodwill. At least, she hadn't been bothered for awhile. There was still a pile next to her, a few text books and one romance novel that she was debating checking out to read.
Her attention had turned to her laptop though, her internet search history was full of keywords like: Brookings, Masquerade Academy, magic, supernatural sightings, vampires and chicken recipes. It was her job after all. Not chicken recipes, but the rest of it, studying up on the place and the people in it. She needed to help Dick research as much as she could about the people who attended the school here.
Most, if not all of the students were magical in some way. Brookings was a magical hot spot. People didn't like to talk about it much, but there were strange things happening all the time. And she had noticed a few shifters and vampires running around too. She had started an excel sheet, preparing it for any notes she might get when she noticed that she wasn't alone at the table anymore.
