Up until recently Octavia mostly stayed away from people, enjoying the comfort of her own home or staying busy at work. This all changed when she realized that she could not heal her lonely heart by locking herself up. And so she tried to bring herself out of her shell and get out where she could make new friends. Problem was that she was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed being in crowded places all the time. She truly loved peace and quiet or the company of one or two people, much more than that and she would get stressed out and revert back to her very shy self. It was all small steps, but at least she was moving forward.
Octavia found the fact that she was stuck in a 17 years old body very frustrating. At one end she held on to her youth, and yet she found it annoying as she mentally aged. Still she had a very naive and juvenile frame of mind sometimes. Maybe being so young was why she found it hard to learn how to handle herself as a vampire and being a lone. The whole age thing threw off a lot of people and even confused her, though she was sure this must be a common thing for vampires.
Today she had sought out somewhere quiet to indulge in her love of reading. There were many places to visit around Brookings that would provide her with what she sought, but she had her heart set on visiting the gardens today as she enjoyed the bounty of flowers and the little critters that frequented the gardens. Octavia was wearing a white dress with black and red flowers on it. Stuff like this was quite common for her to be wearing. She had always been more on the girly side when it came to clothing, but she always looked good. First impressions are everything, and you should always look good when out and about are things her parents always told her. You never knew who you might run into or meet.
Finding a bench that was deep into the gardens and away from others she opened up her book, taking in every word that was written on the pages. "Peter Pan" how ironic, the girl who could not grow up reading about the boy who didn't want to grow up. Octavia spent quite a while sitting in silence enjoying her book before she eventually closed it with a heavy sigh. For the first time since she had been her her attention was off of that book and onto the beauty of nature around her. The smells of the plants and the sound of the birds were all so strong, being a vampire her senses were heightened and the things you can smell and hear were sometimes utterly amazing...sometimes if you were oh so unlucky it was a curse depending on what you were smelling. At the moment she was so zoned in to the sound of the birds that she had not noticed that she was no longer alone.

The sound of crunching leaves beneath his feet was all Sebastian could hear as he walked slowly through the trees. It was odd to see so many leaves already on the ground, considering it was only August and Fall hadn't even started yet. But it was the woods, and he figured that not many people came in here and swept. Who knew how many years of leaves were there, crackling and breaking beneath his converse. He had never been one to spend much time outside, even when he was a human he preferred to stay in his room playing video games and reading. Now he was starting to regret not spending more time in the sun, out in the open, in nature. He stopped as the trees around him began to thin, it was near dark already which suited him just fine. He wasn't sure how long he'd been in the woods this time, only that a blind hunger had made him run out of the school around three. Racing for the woods before the sun burnt him to a crisp. He couldn't figure out how to feed himself without a need to run into the woods, rabbit and deer blood had been his only form of sustenance for weeks. And even then he knew he wasn't getting enough, he always felt weak and hungry. But he couldn't bring himself to harm another person, the thought of sucking blood from someone was gross and way too... Intimate for him. Sebastian stood at the end of the tree line for a few moments. He could see the double front doors of the school only a few yards away, but the thought of going back inside made him weary. Instead he turned and headed towards the expansive gardens. They weren't his first choice in scenery, he'd much prefer staring out over the ocean or even just being back in his old room. But neither of those things were available to him anymore. Neither of those things were something he'd get to have ever again. Seb had taken so much of his life for granted. A sigh left his lips as he trudged through the maze of bushes and flower beds. Had he been in a different mood he might have enjoyed the lush scenery, the smell of the various flowers, and maybe even enjoyed the sounds of the birds that sang in the twilight. Instead, all he noticed was the sound of his converse slapping against the pavement, and the swish of fabric as his arms swung at his side. He was wearing his usual blue jeans and a random band t-shirt, a red hoodie thrown on as an after thought to protect as much of his skin from the sunlight as he could. Then, he realized that he wasn't alone anymore. His breath caught in his throat at the sight of another of his kind lying in the gardens. She looked young, probably about the same age as him, but he hadn't seen her around the school, ever. He could barely believe his eyes as he just stared at her, she was pretty, ethereal even, but usually being a vampire made you uncommonly beautiful. He suddenly felt the need to fix his clothes, to appear like he was more together than he actually was. He swiped his mouth with the sleeve of his jacket and nearly screamed when it came away a darker red. Oh great! How long had he been walking around with blood all over his face? He licked his sweater, savoring the taste of the blood, but more to clean his face before being noticed. He looked up and she was staring right at him. Oh... great. Sebastian took a deep breath and covered his face with his arm. " H-Hi."

Even with her heightened senses she sometimes would not catch things if she was spacing out. The fact that there was another person, no another vampire just feet away from her didn't catch her attention at all. That was until the familiar cent of blood caught her attention and made her realize how hungry she was. Octavia also did her best to feed on animals but it was harder to control herself than she had thought it would be. After Anton left she snapped and had killed a few people in the process. She had been doing better now but to say she never drank human blood anymore would be a flat out lie, she just did her best not to kill any one and did it in a way that kept her secret hidden. Anton never believed in the whole drinking blood from animals thing or sparing a humans life and though Octavia was trying to stray away from his thinking it was hard to change a habit.
Looking the man up and down she had a very scared nervous look on her face. People in general just never swayed Octavia the right way, thanks to years of bullying as a child. Her normal answer to being around people was to get away as soon as possible, to run away. It took every ounce of strength she had to force herself to stay, she had to start making a change in her life and was not allowing herself to be a recluse any more. She would never be able to be happy that way. It was hard for her to focus with the smell of blood lingering in the air. Despite being a vampire for 5 years she was never really properly taught how to control herself, Anton always encouraged her to go after her natural urges of blood lust.
Breath in, Breath out she thought to herself between the blood and this new person her thoughts were racing. She watched as he clearly was wiping away blood from his face You missed a spot she said. Wait..... was that a weird thing to say... great she thought to herself. That was Octavia forever awkward and weird. Would she ever get over this? Oh how she admired those who could talk to any one with confidence. Why had she been screwed over in the personality department?
Octavia stared at him with intense concentration, trying to take him him. He was roughly her age or at least appeared to be, that being said since he was a vampire age didn't mean much he could be much older than her or he could be just a newborn. It wasn't like she was really all that old either. Age really just seemed like a unimportant number at this point. The only thing that was interesting about age was the potential stories you could tell from your past. To be quite honest she had loved hearing about the past from those who had been there, then again she found that kind of stuff interesting.
Realizing up until this point all she had done was stare at him and make a awkward statement to him. If she had any hope of making herself not seem like a total freak she figured she should probably speak up. Oh Hello her voice was soft and kind, it was hard for her to even think of a time when she had ever even spoken harshly Sorry...Just didn't expect to see someone out here she said timidly. Truth was she had not run into very many vampires.
How does one start a polite conversation, she questioned. What do you do or say next, nothing like awkward silence to ruin everything. Sadly sometimes that was what she was best at until she felt comfortable around you. Are you a student here? she questioned, at least maybe that would give her a idea on his age or at the very least break the silence.

Sebastian had scrubbed at his face for what seemed like ages. The sleeve of his jacket was soaked and although he was highly tempted to suck at the fabric he felt it would be extremely poor manners. That and he'd probably look like an idiot doing it. He dropped his arm, his initial reaction to rub the sleeve of his hand across his jeans. Which he did, and then immediately regretted. As a teen his jeans were the best napkin ever. They could take all kinds of abuse and keep the skin beneath them clean. His mother used to bitch constantly about how dirty his jeans were when he threw them into the washer. But he was a teenager, where else was he supposed to wipe his dirty hands off? What would his mother say to blood being all over his jeans and jacket. She'd probably scream and check the house for a dead body. He smiled lightly to himself. She had always told him that those video games he played would turn him into a murderer. The thoughts of his mother took him back to his childhood. He hadn't seen her in a couple of years, she had been absent most of his teens and he hadn't tried to make any contact with her since he turned into a vampire. Mak had whisked him away to this uncharted town the second he woke up. He didn't even know who was paying for it all, filling their bank accounts up with money, providing them with food and clothes. You missed a spot.Seb was broken from his memories at her soft words. He snapped back to attention and without even thinking about it raised his hand up to his mouth again. Rubbing vigorously at what he hoped was the last of it he gave her a sheepish smile. Sebastian wasn't one to make horrible first impressions. In fact his social anxiety made it very important to him to make very good first impressions. " Sorry, sorry." He grumbled to himself, finishing wiping off his entire face before slipping both hands into his pockets. " Uh, yeah, yeah." He couldn't figure out if he should move or stand still so Sebastian ended up tripping over his foot a little bit and moved towards a hedge to make it seem like he wasn't a bumbling idiot. " My name is Sebastian. Are, uh, you a student here? I haven't seen you around before." Yes, perfect, definitely not coming off like an awkward creep at all. Sebastian placed an arm on top of the hedge, finding the bush to be tight and close enough together for him to lean against it an appear to be a casual, awesome kid. Instead of the awkward teenager that he'd been cursed to always be.
