Katalin is harsh. Somber, dark, and apparently humorless, Katalin does not have a switch for her emotions. She simply is. In her mind, she doesn't owe the world anything. The only people she is loyal to are the ones who have done good by her- her family being the top of the list. Her love for her family is deep and unshakable. This love also extends to her dogs, whom she loves as brothers. Only around her family is she often caught relaxed and smiling. To the rest of the world she seems cold, closed off, and unreachable.

Even her anger is cold when roused, biting and close to violence. Katalin is not reckless though. She carefully weighs her risks when given the choice. She is decisive under pressure and willing to own her mistakes when she makes them. She will not let someone belittle her for a mistake though. She does not like those who are condescending or try to lord over her. She is confident in her abilities, but there always seems to be a bit of a chip on her shoulder. She always is striving to prove herself, though to who is anyone's guess.

Social situations are a bit awkward for Katalin. She doesn't like people (dogs make much more sense). She doesn't understand the point of small talk. She is also uncomfortable with the trappings of wealth and luxury and feel very out of place in 'high society'. She gets downright defensive when she feels socially out of place.

There is no place for romance in Katalin's life. Either due to nature or circumstance she has little interest in sex or the trappings of a relationship. She does not like it when people treat her particularly like a woman and detests pet names (especially feminine ones).

Anna Zsiga was only fifteen when she had her first daughter. The birth was hard and made with only the help of a midwife. Disowned by their families, she and her husband Tamas made the best of their meager, rural home on the outskirts of Pascal, Hungary. He trapped and hunted, she tended the garden and the house. This was the life Katalin came into. They thought they would be able to have no other children and so she became their everything. From an early age Katalin took to following her father about. He taught her to set snares, to track, and to shoot. Her early beginnings in wilderness craft can be laid directly at his feet.

Her father was one of the last generations to undergo mandatory military service for his country. He impressed his own sense of nationalism on his daughter and when she expressed interest, he encouraged her to enlist. She quickly gained a reputation for sharp shooting. Four years of active service left her with a taste for adrenaline and not much to do during her four reserve years. She considered going back on active duty but her father had fallen sick and her mother needed help with her four younger sisters. Money was tight. Then she met Vox.

Vox sent her an invitation. It was a job offer of some delicacy but very high compensation. He told her that she could use her skills to kill monsters. Human monsters. And it paid very, very well. She didn't know (and still doesn't know) who Vox really is but he did well for her then and continues to do so. As her reputation as the Kutya grew, he offered her something else. Better jobs- more dangerous jobs. Fitting prey for a hunter looking to prove themselves. Katalin lept on the offer.

Her job has given her much opportunity to travel. Vox's network provides her with falsified documents and a network of support that she never sees and only ever interacts with over satellite phone or coded emails. She has learned of other hunters of the years and has even been extended offers by a few Guilds (always extended to the Kutya, whose reputation is broadly known in dark places). Every one she has rejected- she is loyal to the mysterious patrol who has always been good to her.
