PREFERENCES – humorous / vocal / adventurous / ambitious

PALS. mr. hatten tends to go out of his way to seem as approachable as possible, even if it seems to be second nature. he strives to make as many close emotional attachments as possible – in fact, it may very well be his main motivation for trucking through the day. as such, he’s quick to approach people who he doesn’t know – whether it be by approaching a student struggling to finish their essay or by assisting another teacher trying to get their class in check. due to his laid-back demeanor, he’s commonly recognized as the ‘cool teacher’. he loves to hang out with his pals, especially if they’re close, and never refuses an opportunity to go out on the town with a group of associates. it should also be noted that his preferences are not set in stone – he can find just about anyone enjoyable if he gets to know them enough.

DISLIKES – loud / uptight / belligerent / cruel

FOES. on the flip side, morty is just as prone to making enemies, even if he doesn’t set out to make them. he has a tendency to be vocal about his worldviews, and disagreements are bound to show up as a result of that. he also tends to take things to lightly, regardless of how serious a situation is, which can put him in bad graces with other staff members. he doesn’t judge books by their cover, but has a bad habit of letting gossip cloud his opinion of others. should a friend of his have a particular enemy, he’s likely to make an enemy of them as well. he doesn’t mind mending a ruined relationship with some well-placed agreements, but, while someone remains his foe, he’ll likely greet them with snide remarks until they make amends.

PREFERENCES – strength / optimism / emotion / honesty

LOVERS. as mentioned before, morty actively pursues emotional connections, and he pursues romantic connections most of all. he loves the idea of finding someone he could spend his life with, and prefers not to make shallow connections, preferring deep, intricate romance over quick flings. regrettably, he has difficulty saying things like ‘I love you’ because of how emotional the whole shebang would be, but he only dates people he thinks he has a real shot with, and if he stays with someone, he definitely loves them. when he’s single, he’s a bit of a flirt. when he’s not, he’s the type to brag about his partner nonstop. he’s not particularly picky about who he dates, though – so long as they have nice eyes, he’s drawn in.

AUSTIN NATHANIEL FLINT and MORTIMER HATTEN
Austin is the Mythology teacher and is well like by many of the students but has a bit of a weird personality that many just don't know how to deal with. He is also very opinionated on his views and ideas and I could see them butting heads a lot.


DAHLIA LOUISE ABBOTT and MORTIMER HATTEN
I could see these two being good friends, what do you think? They both are a lot of like and could have some fun together. She is bubbly, chatty and loves to talk and be around people. She does have a 2 year old daughter that she has part time ( partial custody shared with her ex), but when she isn't taking care of her or working she loves to go out and have fun in town, go on adventures and explore.

[MORTIMER HATTEN]

AUSTIN NATHANIEL FLINT & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Goodness gracious, I feel like he's the type of teacher Morty would love to debate with. They wouldn't necessarily be friends ( honestly Morty would probably regularly listen to gossip about the guy, which probably wouldn't make Austin like him very much ) but I do feel like he's the kind of guy Mortimer would find interesting, if nothing else. I doubt they could end up on the same hallway as each other without starting an argument, to be honest! And because they're both the popular, fun teachers (albeit in different ways, with Austin being eccentric and fun while Mortimer is just super relaxed), I can see the students pitting them against each other from time to time. They could potentially be rivals, or as close to rivals as teachers could get.

DAHLIA LOUISE ABBOTT & MORTIMER HATTEN -- They would ABSOLUTELY be friends! I feel like they could probably meet by Morty renting terrible 18+ films (along with a few bad musicals) with it just escalating from there. He's probably a regular at the video place, so they could get to know each other better through quick convos during check out, until eventually they just start hanging out whenever they have the free time. XD I can see them trying out new restaurants and stuff, and during the summer Morty definitely offers to take their family on a camping trip, so long as everyone is okay with it. They seem like the ideal fun pair for adventures and good times, haha.

[TANYA PEYTON GUATHIE]

TANYA PEYTON GUATHIE & MORTIMER HATTEN -- So like most of the other teachers, Tanya would probably drag Mortimer into her friend circle and be a constant buzzing in his ear. She'd be great to talk to, and she can be a decent listener when she knows she needs to be. She might also get on Mort's nerves a little bit with her overly energetic personality.

JOHN MICHAEL DE LUCA & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Yay, another possible relationship for John! He is very reserved and quiet though, plus he's not one to go out on a limb and ask someone out. He is a romantic though. : D

RICHARD BRUCE ASHTON & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Then there's this guy. Dick usually ends up in the enemy pile. If Mort and he ever got into an argument it would probably escalate to someone's death, or a black eye. I think these two would butt heads more than anything. xD

TANYA PEYTON GUATHIE & MORTIMER HATTEN -- I can definitely see them talking between classes and hanging out during staff meetings and whatnot! Hell, the fact that she's an Art/Film teacher and he's an English teacher give them common ground to discuss, because Morty is a complete nerd and likes to incorporate pop culture in his lessons to further his points and relate past literature to a more modern audience. TL;DR - Morty probably likes to go to her for advice on his lesson plans sometimes. But yeah, he might get a little tired out with how excitable she can be.

JOHN MICHAEL DE LUCA & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Ooh, nice! Morty is an explicit flirt, so if there ever was potential for anything going on, he'd be the first to mention it, so that's good. But usually it sounds like he's joking when he does flirt, so John might have a bit of a hard time with that. But hey, it could happen.

RICHARD BRUCE ASHTON & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Goodness gracious, I don't even know if Morty could handle being in the same room as the guy without losing it. Morty's just like 'I can't fight him... I can't lose my job -', so he just actively avoids the guy. It probably doesn't always work out. xD

RICHARD BRUCE ASHTON & MORTIMER HATTEN -- xD Avoiding doesn't work out so well with Dick, he generally looks for people he thinks might be avoiding him.

TANYA PEYTON GUATHIE & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Tanya would definitely be willing to help him with lesson plans. And yes, she'd wear anybody out with her energy, really have to take her in small doses unless you have the energy to match.

JOHN MICHAEL DE LUCA & MORTIMER HATTEN -- Oh goodness. I see terribly cute things happening between Morty and John. John would take everything Morty says seriously and then be embarrassed/annoyed once he figures everything out. xD He'd kind of be like a little kid.
