Growing up in an abusive home left Gio with the ability to disappear into the shadows. He spent countless hours locked in his room, hiding from his father and even his mother. The less he was around them, the less likely he was to get in trouble. And trouble for him was as simple as breathing. Gio didn't have a strong relationship with either of his parents, and this transferred over into his school life. He was very jittery in class, and when a student near him raised their hand to answer a questions, Gio would jump, thinking they were trying to hit him. It lead to a very awkward conversation with a counselor that got Bia the beating of a lifetime.

Once he became a teenager he started hanging out with a crowd of tough kids. They made him fee safe and even though he was good at putting on a show of also being tough, he was basically the biggest pansy of the group. He did whatever they told him to do, and said whatever they wanted him to say. In return the group protected him from his father. Gio started smoking and drinking in his early teens and dropped out of school. He started acting like a bad boy, and soon started to get into the life even more. He started caring less and less about his well being or the well being of others. His attitude towards life was "fuck it" and that's all he ever felt.

As his teens turned into twenties, he started to fell into a pit of drugs and alcohol. He spent more time drunk than he did sober, which made him an ass to deal with. He didn't like being told what to do, so he acted out. He flirted with anyone and anything, and would get himself into fights all the time. He hated most things, and drank to keep himself happy. Although he enjoyed laughing and having a good time, most of it was done while drunk, and all of it was as fake as he could make it. Inside he was dying, trying to break free of a shell he had built around himself as a teenager.

When he met Dick, things changed for the better. He's still not sober all the time, but Gio has been given a reason to actually wake up in the morning. His laughter is more sincere and his need to have fun borders on the reckless. He's great at breaking into buildings and breaking things in general, which makes him half great at being a Hunter. He still has to earn the trust of the people around him, but he's working hard at it. Gio doesn't want to be just another statistic, he wants to make something of himself, and is using Dick's generosity to do so.

Biaggio's mother was a wonderful woman. She grew up in a loving home and had fantastic grades. She was on the path to a very promising life. Her love life wasn't as picturesque as the rest of her life, but what did she need a boyfriend for, when she had her family and her pets. That is until Cassandra met Derick. Derick didn't come from the same loving family, he didn't have the same promising future, in fact Derick didn't have anything but his good looks. Looks that weren't good enough for Hollywood but for their small town in Tasmania he was a catch.

Cassandra's parents warned her numerous times to ignore Derick's interest in her, and stay on her path to success. But sheltered Cassandra wanted something more in her life, and she ended up leaving with Derick for bigger and better places. Bigger meant the nearest city of Launceston, and better meant that she would never have contact with her family ever again. In fact, Cassandra wouldn't have contact with anyone ever again, because she hadn't fallen in love with the beautiful angel she thought Derick was, but with the devil that he cleverly disguised.

Derick turned quickly on Cassandra. He was abusive and controlling, rarely letting her go outside unless it was absolutely necessary. She wasn't allowed to have a phone, and they didn't have a home line. Even if she could call someone, she'd never tell them what he was like. She was in love and terrified all at the same time. Some people would call what she had Stockholm Syndrome. For a few years they were by themselves, then Cassandra gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.

Biggio came into this world with no thoughts in his head, but once he was a toddler the only thing he knew was to stay out of his father's way. He never had any kind of relationship with his father, and although his mother was loving towards him, he never liked her much either. It didn't take long for Gio to realize that staying in his room was much better than being in the way. He had very little in his room, and would amuse himself by watching the world outside his window.

When it came time for him to start school, Biaggio's father made it very clear that he should never mention anything about their home life, and Gio knew well enough to keep his mouth shut. School came easily to him, but he was constantly on the cusp of crying out anytime kids raised their hands around him. He stayed away from kids on the playground too, only playing on the swing when everyone else had walked away. It wasn't long before the teachers noticed how Gio acted in class and on the playground, and at some point his parents were called in.

His father showed up and explained to his counselor that Biaggio was just playing around, being a kid, trying to start something because he was bored, or because he had a bad attitude. Anything to make him look like a brat and his father look like a saint. Upon returning home, Biggio's greatest fear was met when Derick took his rage out on Gio and his mother and went too far. His mother died on the way to the hospital, and his father was able to talk his way out of being arrested by saying that he had come home to find her dead, someone had broken in. Since the crime unit in Tasmania were behind most of the rest of the world, and they had no proof either way, his father got off, for now.

Gio became terrified for his life, he wasn't able to mourn for his mother, and really he didn't care to. Instead he turned his attention towards a group of "bad boys" at school. He did what he had to, to join, and used them as a shield against his father. But Derick didn't abuse Gio as much as he used to, he turned to drinking and wasted his days away in a drunken stupor. Bills went unpaid, items were repossessed, and questions were starting to travel through the city.

On a stormy winter's night, Biaggio had had enough of his father's neglect and in a moment of rage he hit his father. In return, Gio got the shit knocked out of him and thrown outside. Lying in a puddle of water and wishing he could just die something miraculous happened. In a matter of seconds a flash of lightning struck a nearby pole, splitting it in two and sending one half, along with the phone lines it held down into the mud and water. Since Gio didn't have time to move he was electrocuted within a second of the pole falling. But instead of dying, he was energized by the electricity.

For a few moments he laid in the water, his hands in the air as he watched sparks of electricity fly from and between his fingers. Gio entered his home once again, determined to end the torment, and without even knowing how he did it, he electrocuted his father where he stood and killed him. Needless to say Gio was speechless, and terrified. He grabbed what little he owned and fled. He stayed on his own for a few days, until the static he felt every time he walked was gone. He didn't dare go near anyone until he knew he was safe, and even then he was scared of doing something he'd regret.

He eventually ended up getting together with the same group of boys he was with before. Now in his teens he didn't need school anymore and dropped out, living in the abandoned building that the group of boys occupied. He stole to get money to eat and he stole whenever he wanted to drink. He found that by keeping his head hazy he never had to worry about his new found power bothering him, he noticed that it only ever did any damage when he was feeling an extreme emotion, and by being drunk he never had to think of what he'd down to his father. Not that it bothered him.

He was arrested several times as a teenager, and after turning twenty he was still managing to get himself into trouble. Hanging around with the bad boys didn't bother him, but he also wasn't getting anything out of it anymore. He was being complacent and needed something to give him a rush. He tried breaking into a large building that he assumed was a bank or something. He wanted to do something worth being arrested before. However, the building he broke into happened to be the building that Dick Ashton used as his front for the Guild. And while there wasn't any money in the building there was plenty of Dick.

After spending a few nights in a holding cell and sobering up, Dick offered Gio a job. At first he was very wary of Dick and the rest of the Guild, but after awhile he grew to feel comfortable there. And actually started to enjoy doing the work that Dick provided him. He was fed and clothed and no one asked him questions he wasn't prepared to answer. And while he still drank, he didn't spend as much time getting drunk as he did to just forget. His true, happy, personality started to bubble up to the forefront and when he was paired with Caje Cannarsa and Selby King (both of whom didn't have parents or were very sociable) he started to learn what it was like to be apart of a family.

ELECTRICITY MANIPULATION After a freak accident on a stormy night, Gio was given the unique ability to create, shape and manipulate electricity. It's not an exact science, and sometimes he can't control it, and causes lots of damage that he doesn't mean to. Some days he can't even manage to start a spark with a snap of his fingers. It's a very fickle ability. He usually needs to be feeling an extreme emotion for it to do any real damage. (Anger, hatred, annoyance, depression, etc...)
